The British Open trophy will remain on the other side of the Atlantic as American Tiger
Woods took the 2005 championship. The 134th Championship took place at st.Andrews,
Scotland. Woods had already won the British Open in the year 2000, taking home
not only a honored title, but also £50,000 (about $75,000).
Woods closed with a 2-under-par 70 and a 72-hole of 14-under 274, becoming
the first wire-to-wire winner in the tournament since Tom Weiskopf in 1973 at
Troon.
