A peaceful protest against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) has been scheduled for November 3-4 in Washington D.C. The demonstrators will be meeting at Washington Monument at 9 am on Friday, November 3, and proceed to the White House for a rally in the park on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The new act has been passed using unrelated legislation about Port Security that was expected to gain the majority of votes, and resulted in the banning of US players from many gaming websites, turning 25 million American poker players into potential felons.
The purpose of the demonstration is to protest against the government's invasion of privacy and to reach other Americans before voting time. Debbie Richardson, the who initiated the demonstration has reported that over 250 people confirmed their attendance, while some of them will be bringing groups. There have been rumors that celebrities who support poker may show up, and other speakers are confirmed.
