The winner of the 2007 WPT Five Star World Poker Classic is Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen of team Full Tilt Poker. Mortensen, who won $3.9 million, is now the first player to win both a WPT World Championship as well as a main event at the World Series of Poker. He has also entered into the top-10, all-time money list.
Mortensen won in a heads up game with Kirk Morrison, who was leading with 19.45 million in chips, compare to Mortensen's 12.8 million. The match took three hours, and was decided when Morrison went all in before the flop with A-4, while Mortensen called with suited K-J. With a flop of 7-4-3, a J on the turn, and a 3 on the river, Mortensen won with a higher two pair.
