Craps is a great game, with a world of betting possibilities, and the best payoffs.
The dealer is also called box man, and the person whose turn it is roll the
dice is called the shooter.
The first roll of the dice in a round is called the come out roll.
There are many kinds of bets, which differ from each other slightly. Each betting
option is printed on the table for you to place your bet on. For a start we
will concentrate on the basic, and most simple bet: a Pass Line bet.
Basic rules
We start at the come out roll, (the first toss in a round) - if the shooter
rolls a 7 or 11, it is a 1:1 win, and the round is over, and the (same) shooter
makes a new come our roll.
If the shooter rolls a 2, 3 or 12, it’s a loss, and again the round is
over.
Any other number, that is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is set as the Point.
While making come out rolls, you see a small black circle with the word “off”
written in the middle. When the point is set, the circle is placed on the point
number printed on the table, and “off” is changed to “on”.
Once the point is set, and the white “on” is marking it, the purpose
is to keep rolling the dice till the point repeats itself, or till the shooter
rolls a 7.
A 7 rolled not during a come out roll is called an out 7.
If the point repeats itself, the shooter wins and the round is over.
If the shooter rolls an out 7, shooter looses, and the round is over.
If any other number rolls, just keep on shooting.
Placing the bet:
(This view of the craps table contains only
the basic bets covered here. The rest are covered in Risky Bets.)
Bets placed before making a come out roll:
Pass Line Bet
As we mentioned earlier it is the most common bet. It is placed prior to the
come out roll, by placing the chips (or actually clicking on) the pass line
bar printed on the table.
The bet is that the point will repeat itself before rolling an out 7. Win
odds are 1:1
Once the point is set, you can’t remove or reduce a pass bet, you have
to stay untill the round is over, either by a roll of the point or an out
7.
You win 1:1 when:
* During come out roll, shooter tosses 7 or 11.
* After the point is set, it repeats itself.
You loose when:
* During come out roll, shooter tosses 2, 3 or 12.
* After the point is set, shooter rolls an out 7.
Don’t Pass Line Bet
This bet is the opposite of the pass line bet above. It’s placed before
the come out roll, on the “don’t pass bar” printed on the
table. Pays are 1:1. Unlike pass bets, you can remove or reduce your don’t
pass bets from the table by right clicking on it.
You win 1:1 when:
* During come out roll, shooter tosses 2 or 3.
* After the point is set, shooter rolls an out 7.
You loose when:
* During come out roll, shooter tosses 7 or 11.
* After the point is set, it repeats itself.
You push when:
* During come out roll, shooter tosses 12.(a push is a draw. Player gets
the money back)
Bets placed after making a come out roll:
Come Bet
This bet is very similar to a pass line bet, except that it is placed after
the come out roll is over. So if you came in late, there is still room for
you.
The bet is placed on the COME bar printed on the table.
Rules are alike: 7 or 11 wins. 2, 3 or 12 loose. Any other number (4, 5,
6, 8, 9 or 10) becomes the come point and the box man will move the come bet
from the COME bar and place it on the number equal to the come point, that
is printed on the table.
Once the come point is set, you can’t remove or reduce a pass bet,
you have to stay untill the round is over, either by a roll of the come point
or an out 7.
You win 1:1 when:
* Before the come point is set, shooter tosses 7 or 11.
* After the come point is set, shooter repeats it.
You loose when:
* Before the come point is set, shooter tosses 2, 3 or 12.
* After the come point is set, shooter rolls an out 7.
Don’t Come Bet
The opposite of a come bet. All procedures are the same as come bet except
you place the bet on the DON’T COME bar.
You may not remove or reduce the bet till an out 7 or the come point is rolled.
But, if the original point is rolled (thus, ending the round) you may remove
your bet.
You win 1:1 when:
* Before the come point is set, shooter tosses 2 or 3.
* After the come point is set, shooter rolls an out 7.
You loose when:
* Before the come point is set, shooter tosses 7 or 11.
* After the come point is set, shooter repeats it.
You push when:
* During come out roll, shooter tosses 12.
Odds Bet
An odd bet is a complementary bet to a pass/don’t pass or a come/don’t
come bet.
Odds bets gives the player the best payoff, because the casino pays true odds.
Pass Line Odds Bet
After setting the point, you can place an odd bet by left clicking on the
table outside the pass line bar, under the original pass line bet.
An unresolved pass odds bet can be removed.
Pays are:
* 2:1 on a roll of 4 or 10
* 3:2 on a roll of 5 or 9
* 6:5 on a roll of 6 or 8
Don’t Pass Line Odds Bet
After setting the point, you can place an odd bet by left clicking on the
right side of the don’t pass line bar. Removing a Don’t Pass Odds
bet (by right clicking on it) also removes the original Don’t Pass bet.
Pays are:
* 1:2 on a roll of 4 or 10
* 2:3 on a roll of 5 or 9
* 5:6 on a roll of 6 or 8
Come Odds Bet
After setting the come point, you can place an odd bet by left clicking on
the table directly under the come bet (that is, on the box that represents
the come point).
An unresolved Come Odds Bet can be removed.
Pays are:
* 2:1 on a roll of 4 or 10
* 3:2 on a roll of 5 or 9
* 6:5 on a roll of 6 or 8
Don’t Come Odds Bet
After setting the come point, you can place an odd bet by clicking on a small
spot directly under the don’t come bet in a narrow upper bar over the
box that represents the come point.
An unresolved don’t come odds bet can be removed.
Pays are:
* 1:2 on a roll of 4 or 10
* 2:3 on a roll of 5 or 9
* 5:6 on a roll of 6 or 8
It’s generally recommended betting the odds because it’s the
best bet you can make in a casino.
