Once upon a time Poker was played in a group, with players huddling around
a table and playing against each other, trying to hide their excitement or despair
behind a sealed expression. Nowadays, Poker face is rapidly becoming more of
a general phrase than an actual strategy, as online Poker rooms become more
and more popular.
Caribbean Poker is another form of online poker that breaks tradition, as you
play against the dealer, and there is no need for other players. The object
of Caribbean Poker is to beat the dealer's hand.
To start the game you place an ante. The dealer deals you 5 cards, all facing
up. The dealer takes for himself 5 cards, 1 facing up and 4 facing down.
If your hand doesn’t look too promising, you have an option to surrender
and loose your ante.
If your hand looks good you have the option to challenge the dealer. To challenge
you place a bet that equals twice the ante.
After placing your bet, the dealer reveals the hidden cards and you compare
hands.
The dealer's must have at least one Ace and one King to have a qualified hand.
If the dealer's hand is not qualified, you are paid 1:1 on your ante, and your
bet is returned without winnings.
If the dealer's hand qualifies then the best hand wins. You are paid 1:1 on
the ante plus the winnings on your bet.
If there is a tie, both your ante and your bet are returned.
